CHAP. XVI.

fuses to act, chan-
cellor to appoint

out of her other private funds, the sum of four thousand dollars,
and that the balance remaining due to her and her children from
her mother's estate, would be more than sufficient to discharge the
residue of the purchase money; that she is willing and desirous to
settle the whole real estate, so purchased by her, on her children,
(reserving nevertheless her life estate,) provided a law should pass
authorising a trustee to collect and receive her proportion of her
mother's estate, and to apply such part thereof as may be sufficient
to discharge the balance of the purchase money due for the said
land, and therefore prayed a law might pass for that purpose,
1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Alexander M'Donald, of the city of Baltimore, be and he is hereby
appointed trustee for the said Eliza Mathews, and her children,
fur the purposes in this act mentioned, and that the said trustee
shall have the same power and authority, as was given by the said
will to the trustees tunned therein; Provided nevertheless, that the
said Alexander M'Donald, before he shall proceed in the execution
of the powers in him vested by this act, shall enter into bond, with
good and sufficient security, to be approved of by orphans
court of Baltimore county, to be lodged and filed in the said court,
and payable to the state of Maryland, for the. faithful performance
of the trust in him reposed by the provisions of this act.
2. And be it further enacted, That the said trustee shall have full
power and authority to appropriate and apply such part of the
money, so as aforesaid to be received and collected, for the use of
the said Eliza Mathews, and her children, under and in virtue of
the last will and testament of the said Deborah Sterett, to the pay-
ment and discharge of any balance that may be due for the pur-
chase of said real estate, so as aforesaid made by the said Eliza
Mathews; Provided always, that at the time of the payment of the
said balance, the whole of the real estate aforesaid, so as aforesaid
purchased by the said Eliza Mathews, shall be and is hereby vested
in the said Eliza Mathews, for and during her natural life, to her
sole and separate use, and from and after her death to the use and
behoof of the children of the said Eliza Mathews, and their heirs,
for ever.
3. And be it enacted, That in case the said Alexander M'Donald
shall refuse to act, or in event of his death or resignation, or in-
ability to fulfil the said trust, the chancellor shall have power to
appoint another trustee or trustees for the purpose of carrying into
effect the provisions of this act.

An Act to allow Arnold T. Winsor, late Sheriff and Collector of Montgomery
County, further time to complete his Collection.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Arnold T. Winsor, late sheriff and collector of Montgomery coun-
ty, be and he is hereby authorised to collect all balances due him
as sheriff and collector as aforesaid, at any time before the first
day of January in the year eighteen hundred and twenty-one, in
the name manner as he could or might have done while he was
sheriff and collector, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. Provided always, and be it enacted, That the said Arnold T.
Winsor, before he proceeds to execute or distrain the property of
any person or persons for officers fees, public dues or taxes, shall
