CHAP. 141.

payment of all accounts for expenses attending the city court, and
the administration of justice therein, and which by law is to be paid
by the city of Baltimore; all other accounts for the maintenance of
the gaol, and prisoners therein, and administration of justice in
Baltimore county court, shall be examined, corrected, passed and
levied, by the levy court of Baltimore, as they have heretofore
done previous to the session of assembly of eighteen hundred and
seventeen.

CHAPTER 149.

An act relating to the Sheriff of Baltimore county.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and alter the passage of this law, no person shall be imprison-
ed in the gaol of Baltimore county for any debt within the juris-
diction of a justice of the peace, unless the creditor, or some person
for him or her, shall at the time of said debtor's commitment, pay,
or secure to be paid, to the sheriff or keeper of the gaol, twenty-five
cents per day for the maintenance of said debtor, and if the credi-
tor shall neglect or refuse to pay the said per diem for the space of
four whole days, the sheriff or keeper of the gaol shall and may
discharge the said debtor without liability for escape; Provided, that
this act shall not extend to persons committed for any fine or fees
imposed by any court, or magistrate, for any criminal act, or for
breach of any public law of the state, or city ordinance.
2. And be it enacted, That the sheriff of Baltimore county shall
be entitled to a reasonable sum of money per annum to pay a porter
or gate keeper at the gaol of said county.

CHAPTER 143.

An Additional Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to re-
gulate the breadth of a certain Road in Kent county.

Sec. 1. Be enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Kent county be and they are hereby authorised
and directed, to levy on the assessable property of said county,
such sum or sums of money as may lie necessary to carry into effect
the law to which this is an additional supplement, the said sum or
sums of money to be levied, collected and paid, as other county le-
vies are.
2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued, or taken to repeal, or in any way alter or annul, an act, or
any part thereof, passed at December session eighteen hundred and
seventeen, entitled, A supplement to an act. entitled, An act to re-
gulate the breadth of a certain road in Kent county.

CHAPTER 144.

An act for the relief of Mary Louisa Hall, of the City of
Baltimore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said Mary Louisa Hall be and she is hereby divorced from

bed. board, and mutual cohabitation, with her husband Francis G.
Hall.
2. And be it enacted, That all the right and title which the said
Francis C. Hall, by virtue of his marriage with said Mary Louisa
Hall, to any property which she may become entitled to, in any
