9. And be it enacted, That any person or persons who may be em-
ployed by the said court to record any of the aforesaid papers, shall
on or before the fust day of May eighteen hundred and nineteen,
and before the first day of May annually thereafter, until the re-
cording of said papers shall be completed, make out a fair and cor-
rect account of the recording by him or them performed in pursu-
ance of this act, and the cost of the record books for the. same, and
the account, when examined and passed by the justices of the said
orphans court, or a majority of them, shall be by them certified and
transmitted to the justices of levy court of said county, who shall
assess and levy the same an other county charges, and which shall
be collected and paid to the person or persons employed as aforesaid.
3. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue in force until
the first day of January eighteen hundred and twenty-two, and no
longer.

CHAPTER 139.
A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act providing for the
appointment of an Attorney General, and of District At-
torneys in the several Judicial Districts of this State, and
for Baltimore City Court.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
whensoever it shall so happen that the attorney general, being at
the same time also commissioned a district attorney of a judicial
district, or of the Baltimore city court, shall not have it in his pow-
er personally to attend the sessions of such district court, or of
the court of the city of Baltimore as the case may be, it shall be
lawful for him, and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to ap-
point, depute and substitute, some one attorney or attorneys of such
court, to appear, prosecute and act, for and on behalf of the said
state, in his place, for and during his absence; Provided neverthe-
less, such appointment, deputation or substitution, shall not con-
tinue longer than the term for which it was made.

CHAPTER 140.
A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to incorporate
Frederick Town, in Frederick county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all that part of the town of Frederick lying north of Second-street
and west of Market-street, and including all lots fronting on the
west side of Bentz-street, from Second-street to Fourth street, shall
be the sixth ward, any thing in the original act to which this is a
supplement to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHATTER 141.
An act relating to Baltimore City Court.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland. That
in future witnesses shall be allowed fifty cents per day for their at-
tendance on Baltimore city court, and no more, unless such witnesses
reside at a distance from the city, in which case a reasonable ad-
ditional sum may be allowed by the court.
2. And be it enacted, That from and after the passage of this act,
the judges of the city court may examine, correct, and authorise the
