ry's county, and paid to the said Elizabeth Mason, or her order.

CHAPTER 43.

An act declaring the assent of the Legislature to the Devise
of Lands in the Will of John Cunningham, late of liar-
ford county, deceased, to Francis Asbury, William
M'Kendree, and ethers, in trust for the Methodist Epis-
copal Church, for the purposes therein mentioned.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the assent of the legislature be, and the same is hereby given
to the devise of lands in the will of the late John Cunningham, of
Harford county, deceased, to Francis Asbury, William M'Kendree,
and the other members of the Maryland conference, and their suc-
cessors, in trust for the purposes therein mentioned, and that the
paid trustees, and their successors, be and the same are hereby de-
clared competent in law to hold the said lands, or to sell and dis-
pose of the same, and conveyances in law therefor to make and
execute, according to the intent and for the purposes mentioned in
the devise in the said will.
2. And be it enacted, That the trustees aforesaid, by the name
and style of the Maryland Conference of the Methodist Episcopal
Church in the United States of America, be, and are hereby de-
clared to be competent in law to sue and be sued, plead and be im-
pleaded, in every case, claim or dispute, connected with or glow-
ing out of the lands mentioned in the said devise.

CHAPTER 44.

A Supplement to an act, entitled. An act to lay out and make
public a Road in Montgomery county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Patrick Orme and William Pearce, of Montgomery county, be and
they are hereby appointed commissioners in the place of William
Carroll and Robert Edmondson, two of the commissioners named
in the act for opening a road to lead from Coalsville to intersect the
main road from Brookville to George-town and Washington.

chapter 45.
An act to increase the pay of the Judges of the Orphans
Court in the Counties of .Baltimore, Dorchester and Wash-
ington.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, each judge, of the orphans
court for the counties of Baltimore, Dorchester, and Washington,
be, and he is hereby entitled to receive, in lieu of his present per
diem, the sum of three dollars for every day's attendance.

Company for building a Bridge over Choptank River, at
or near Denton Ferry.
Whereas it is represented to this general assembly, by the pe-
tition of the stockholders of the Denton Bridge Company, that the
