for their use, is not sufficient to keep up the repairs of said bridge
and cross way, and to pay them a moderate interest for their money,
therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, it shall and may be lawful for
the president and directors, at all times hereafter, in lien of the tolls
heretofore paid, to demand and receive the following tolls for pass-
ing said bridge, to wit: For every coach, chariot, or other four
wheeled carriages, stage or wagon, fifty cents; for every two wheel-
ed carriage or cart, of every description, twenty-five cents; for a
horse and rider ten rents; for every head of horses or mules five,
cents; for every head of horned cattle four cents; for every score of
sheep or hogs twenty rents; for every foot passenger four cents;
which rates of tolls shall at all times be made public, and kept in
some conspicuous place for the inspection of passengers, any law,
usage or custom, to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That so much of the act to which this is a
supplement as is contrary to, or inconsistent with this act, be and
the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 47.
An Additional Supplement to the act, entitled, An act for
founding an Academy at Hager's-Town, in Washington
county.
Whereas it is represented to this general assembly, that the
provisions of the fifth section of the supplement to which this act is
an additional supplement, have not been complied with, for several
years past, therefore,
Sec 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
an election for seven trustees for the Hager s-town academy, be
held on the first Monday in March next, and on the first Monday
of every succeeding March thereafter, by the stockholders in said
institution, in the manner directed by the original act to which this
is an additional supplement, at such place in Hager's town as the
president of the board of trustees for the time being shall appoint,
of which time and place of election he shall give one month's pre-
vious notice in the newspapers of Hager's-town, and such seven
trustees, elected in the manner above directed, and their successors,
annually so elected, shall have all the powers, perform all the du-
ties, and enjoy all the rights and immunities, which by the law to
which this is an additional supplement were given to and required
of the twenty-one trustees in the said original act mentioned.
S. And be it enacted, That the trustees hereafter to be elected as
aforesaid, and their successors, shall have full power to sell such
parts of the real estate, now held by the Hager's-town academy, as
they or a majority of the board may deem expedient, and they are,
hereby authorised to make to the purchaser or purchasers a deed or
deeds of conveyance for the same, and to apply the proceeds of
such sale, or sales towards the payment of any debt or debts with
which the institution is at present, or may hereafter be encumbered;
and they are hereby authorised and empowered, generally to do
and perform all such ads and things as they may think expedient
and necessary for the benefit of the said academy herein authorised,
or which the trustees had authority to do by the act to which this
is a supplement.
