4. And be it enacted, That said commissioners, after the comple-
tion of said bridge, shall render a full account to the levy court of
Baltimore county of all the money expended in building the said
bridge, and the money remaining in their hands not expended, if
any, after the completion of the same, shall be returned to said
levy court for the use of said county.

CHAPTER 37.

An Additional Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to in-
corporate a Company to make a Turnpike Road from the
Turnpike near Westminster to Taney-town, thence with
the Main-street through Emmitsburgh, to Troup's Tavern.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful for the Westminster, Taney town, and
Emmitsburgh turnpike company, to erect and keep a toll-gate at
the bridge over Monocacy, between Taney-town and Emmitsburgh,
and to exact and receive from all persons using said bridge, such
tolls as to the said company may seem proper, provided the said
tolls shall not exceed the following rates, to wit: for every score of
sheep twelve and one half cents; for every score of hogs twelve and
one half cents; for every score of cattle twenty-five cents; for every
horse, and his rider, or led horse, six and one quarter cents; for
every chair, chaise, cart, or other carriage of pleasure or burthen,
having two wheels, twelve and one half cents for each horse, mule
or ox, drawing the same; for every wagon, coach, or other carriage
of burthen or pleasure, hating four wheels, nine and two-thirds
cents for every horse, mule or ox, drawing the same; for the re-
covery of which tolls, the said company shall have the same reme-
dy as is provided by law for the, recovery of tolls receivable at the
gates on the several turnpike roads in this state.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be lawful for the said
company to shut up the roads and fords contiguous to the said
bridge, so as to prevent passengers from evading the payment of
toll for passing the said bridge.
3. Provided always, and be it enacted, That so soon as the road
commenced by the Westminster, Taney-town and Emmitsburgh
turnpike company, shall be so far completed as to authorise the
erection of a toll gate on the west side of Moncacy, then this act,
and the powers and privileges hereby granted, shall for ever cease
and determine; And provided also, if the said company do not com-
plete the road unto the said bridge, in the space of five years from
and after the passage of this act, the tolls on said bridge shall also
cease.
4. And be it enacted, That it shall not be lawful for the said com-
pany to ask, demand or receive, of or from any person or persons
living within three miles of the said bridge, any toll for passing
the said bridge more than twice in twenty-four hours.
