2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall be construed
to hinder any ordinary keeper, or licensed retailer, from selling
liquors or other things in their respective dwelling houses or stores.

CHAPTER 27.

An act, entitled, An act for the benefit of Lydia True and
Eleanor Long, of Saint-Mary's County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Saint-Mary's county shall, and they
are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy court annually,
to levy on the assessable property of said county, so long as they
shall see cause, for the support and maintenance of Lydia True and
Eleanor Long, of said county, a sum of money not exceeding thir-
ty dollars each; and the same, when collected, shall be paid by the
collector of said county to them or their order, for the purposes
aforesaid.

CHAPTER 28.

An act for the erection of a new Market-House in Hager's-
Town, Washington County, and for other purposes.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Peter Seibert, Joseph Gabby, and Henry Shafer, be, and they are
hereby appointed commissioners, to select and purchase in Hager's-
Town, near the public square, a lot or lots of ground, such as in
their judgment, or in the judgment of a majority of them, shall be
considered the most eligible, convenient and healthy site, for a new
market-house, and to purchase the same from the owner or owners
thereof, under such instructions, and upon such terms of payment
therefor, as may be given to them by the moderator and commissi-
oners of Hager's-Town; and in case the said three commissioners,
or a majority of them, may not be able to agree with the owner or
owners for the purchase money of such site as they may determine
to be most eligible, that the sheriff of Washington county be au-
thorised to summon twelve good and lawful men, living out of Ha-
ger's-Town, and having no interest therein, to value, upon oath,
and condemn the said site, and their decision shall be final.
2. And be it enacted, That in case any of the said commissioners
shall refuse to act, die, resign, or remove out of the county, or be
incapable to act, the levy court of said county shall fill up such va-
cancy.
3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid shall meet
at the court-house in Hager's-Town, on the first Monday in March
next, and may proceed to the discharge of the several duties pro-
vided by this act, and may adjourn from time to time, as may be
convenient and necessary, and each commissioner shall be entitled
to receive two dollars for each day in which he may be engaged in
the discharge of the duty imposed upon them by this act.
4. And be it enacted, That when the new court-house at Hager's-
Town shall be completed, the said moderator and commissioners
shall pull down the old court-house, and apply the materials of the
same to the erection of the new market-house aforesaid, or sell the
same at public sale to the highest bidder, under the express condi-
tion, that it shall be pulled down immediately; and the proceeds of
the same shall be applied to discharge any debt contracted for
building the market-house aforesaid,
