by authorised and empowered, to allow to the overseer of the poor
of said county, such compensation for his services, as they in their
judgment may deem right, not exceeding two hundred dollars per
annum, and may make such allowance for dieting the said over-
seer, and his family, as to them may seem just.

CHAPTER 206.
An act to repeal an act, entitled, An act securing to the She-
riff of Baltimore County the Gaol Fees of certain Insol-
vent Debtors.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the act, entitled, An act securing to the sheriff of Baltimore coun-
ty the gaol fees of certain insolvent debtors, passed at December
session eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter twenty-nine, be and
the same are hereby repealed from and after the first day of Octo-
ber next.

CHAPTER 207.
An act for the benefit of Caleb P. Davis of Caroline County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Caleb P. Davis of Caroline county, be and he is hereby authorised
and empowered, to remove and bring into this state a negro wo-
man slave, named Rachel, at any time within one year from the
passage of this act, on his having the said slave duly recorded in
the county court of Caroline, within six months after the said re-
moval, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall be
construed to enable the said Caleb P. Davis to sell or dispose of
the said slave, imported by virtue of this act, until the said slave
shall have resided within this state three whole years next pre-
ceding such sale, except in cases of disposition by last will and
testament, and dispositions by law for bona fide debts, or conse-
quent upon intestacy.

CHAPTER 208.
A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to authorise a Lot-
tery or Lotteries to raise a sum of money to repair the
Liberty Road.
Whereas, it is represented to this general assembly, that
some of the managers appointed by the act to which this is a
supplement, to draw the lottery or lotteries in said act authorised,
are dead, some have removed, and others refuse to act as mana-
gers; Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Joseph Jamison, Eli Lilly, Caleb Merryman, Robert Fisher, John
Merryman, George C. Smith, Robert Bigham, John K. Rowe, Wil-
liam Pechin, John S. Smith, Cecilius C. Jamison, and Thomas Wood-
en, or a majority of them who may be disposed to serve, be and
they are hereby appointed managers of said lottery or lotteries, in
addition to those named in the original act, or as many of the sur-
vivors as may elect to serve as managers, and they are invested
with all the powers, and subject to all obligations, as the managers
