CHAPTER 209.

An act for the benefit of Hugh Foy.
Whereas, a certain Janus Foy, late of the city of Baltimore,
deceased, being seized of a lot of ground situate in Franklin-lane
in said city, devised the same to his brother Hugh Foy, who is not
a citizen of the United States; and the said Hugh Foy has petition-
ed this general assembly for a law to enable him to hold the said
property, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said devise from the said James Foy to the said Hugh Foy, of
the lot of ground aforesaid, and of the improvements thereon,
shall have the same force and effect to vest in the said Hugh Foy,
his heirs and assigns, as good and full a title to the property, as if
the said Hugh Foy, his heirs and assigns, as good and full a title to
the said property, as if the said Hugh Foy had been naturalized a-
greeably to the laws of the United States at the time of the making
of said devise by, or death of, the said James Foy; Provided, that
nothing herein contained shall in any manner affect or impair the
rights of any person or persons to the said lot of ground, which
may have been acquired before the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 210.

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate Lotte-
ries.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the lottery for the benefit of the University of Maryland, and the
Fells Point Masonic Hall Lottery, and the lottery for raising a sum
of money to buy a lot of ground in Frederick Town, in Frederick
county, and build a church and parsonage house thereon, be and
the same is excepted from the provisions of the act, entitled, An
act. to regulate lotteries; Provided always, that the tax of five per
cent shall be paid on all the prizes in each of the said lotteries,
and that before either of the said lotteries shall commence draw-
ing, the managers of such lottery shall lodge with the treasurer of
the western shore a bond by him approved, conditioned for the
payment of five per cent on the amount of the prizes in such lot-
tery, within sixty days after the drawing of the same shall be com-
pleted; and the managers of any of the said lotteries, offending
against the provisions aforesaid, shall forfeit severally the sum of
five thousand dollars, to be recovered by indictment in the county
court of the county where the offence shall be committed, or in the
city court of Baltimore, as the case may be, for the use of the
state.
2. And be it enacted, That when either of the two lotteries ex-
cepted in the original act to which this is a supplement, or either
of the three lotteries mentioned in this act, shall have drawn any
scheme of a lottery, it shall not be lawful for the managers of such
lottery to propose any further scheme of a lottery, but the draw-
ing of one lottery by the managers of either of the aforesaid lot-
teries shall be a full execution of all the powers vested in such ma-
nagers by this or any other act of assembly heretofore passed.
