that may be sustained by each and every of the persons through
whose lands the said road may pass, taking into consideration
the advantages and disadvantages (if any,) and return the
same to the levy court together with the plot and certificate as
above directed; and the damages so ascertained shall be levied
and collected as other county charges arc, and shall be paid
over to the persons respectively entitled to receive the same;
Provided nevertheless, that no money shall be levied or assess-
ed for the purposes of paying the damages aforesaid, until the
said road in opened and cleared agreeably to the directions of

this act.
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners
shall be entitled to receive as a compensation tor their services,
in performing the duties required by this act, the sum of two
dollars per day, to be levied collected and paid as other county
charges in said county are levied collected and paid.

CHAPTER 25.

An act authorising the Levy Court of Washington County
to levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED By the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Washington county are here
by authorised and directed, to levy on the assessable property
of said county, the sum of three hundred and eleven dollars and
thirty-four and a half cents, and when so levied and collected,
the sheriff of said county shall pay the amount to the order of
John Francis Gardiner of Charles county or to his legal repre-
sentatives.

CHAPTER 26.

An act making a public landing place in Somerset County,
and for other purposes.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas Robertson junior, Daniel Dakes and
William A. Schoolfield be, and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners to lay out a quantity of land for a public landing
place en the east side of Annamessex river, on the land: for-
merly belonging to Planner Williams deceased, now in the pos-
session of Amelia Gale, not exceeding two acres, in such a
manner as they or a majority of them may think most condu-
cive to the public benefit.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the above mentioned
Thomas Robertson junior, Daniel Dakes and William A.
Schoolfield be appointed commissioners to open and lay out
a public road from said landing place, twenty feet wide, in
such a route as said commissioners or a majority of them shall
deem conducive to the public benefit; Provided, that the same
shall not be laid out to run over the orchard, garden, yard or
meadow of any person, without the consent of the owners
thereof, to intersect the main county road leading from Carroll's
corner, to Annamessex Chapel, and the said commissioners or
a majority of them are hereby required to return a plot of said
landing place and road to the clerk of Somerset county court,
there to be recorded, together with an estimate of the damages
sustained by any person or persons whose land may be taken,
laid out and appropriated as aforesaid.
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of Som-
