Compensation.

Maryland, That Thomas Johnson, (of Barnett,) George Amos
(of James,) and James M'Claskey be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners of review, to view that part of the road
as altered and laid out by the commissioners named in the law
to which this is a supplement, that runs through the land of
Philip Quintan, and upon viewing the same if they or a majo-
rity of them shall be of opinion that the said road as laid out
by the former commissioners is not laid upon the best ground
or where the public might be as well served with less injury to
the said land holder, they or a majority of them are hereby autho-
rised and directed to after and amend the location of said road
so far as it runs through the land of the said Philip Quinlan
and a survey and plot thereof as altered by them, make and re-
turn to the clerk of Harford court to be by him recorded, which
road so altered and laid out by said commissioners, shall be o-
pened and kept in repair in the same manner that the road laid
out by the commissioners named in the law to which this is
supplement, is directed to be opened and kept in repair.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if the said commis-
sioners herein named, or a majority of them upon viewing the
original location of said road, shall be of opinion that the same
is laid upon the best ground or where the public will be best
served, or that the location through the laud of Philip Quinlan
cannot be altered without injury to the public, that then and in
such case the said commissioners shall certify the same under
their hands to the clerk of the county court aforesaid, and in
that case the original location shall be deemed and taken for the
bed of said road, and shall be opened as directed by the orig-
inal law.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners
herein named shall have an allowance of two dollars per day,
for every day they shall, severally attend in discharge of the du-
ties herein imposed.

CHAPTER 24.

An act to lay out and open a road in Harford County.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Nelson, William Glenn and John
Slade be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and
they or a majority of them are hereby authorised to lay out
and open a road in Harford county, not exceeding thirty three
feet in width, to begin at a certain point to be fixed on by said
commissioner!! or a majority of them, on the old York road near
John Almony's in said county, thence by John Wiley's mill or
Deer creek, thence by David Shaver's, on a direction to wards
Thomas Jorden's smiths' shop in Pennsylvania, on the best and
straightest direction the nature of the ground will admit of, and
with the smallest possible injury to the individuals over whose
land the said road may pass; and the said commissioners shall
survey, mark and bound the said road, and a correct plot and
certificate of the same return under their or a majority of their
bands and seals, to the clerk of Harford county court to be by
him recorded; Provided always, that the said road shall not be
made to pass through the buildings, gardens or orchards of any
person without the consent of the owner or owners thereof.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commission-
ers or a majority of them shall value and ascertain the damages
