Leases.

. the parties thereto, and those claiming by from or under them,
and against all persons claiming title by descent from or
through the said Daniel Barnitz the elder, or Charles Barnitz
the brother of the said Daniel, or the lather of the said Daniel
and Charles, or John M'Connell in the said compromise men-
tioned, or John B. Hammond in the said compromise also men-
tioned, or Catharine. Barnitz the grandmother of the said John
M'Connell, and John B. Hammond or Elizabeth the daughter
of the said Daniel and Catharine, and the mother of the said
John M'Connell and John B.Hammond, or Charles M'Con-
nell the father of the said John M'Connell, or John Hammond
the lather of the said John B. Hammond, or any ancestor or
relation, collateral or lineal of either the said Charles M'Con-
nell or John Hammond, and against all and every other claim-
ant, not being at the time of the passage of this act a purchaser
for a valuable consideration, or not having at the time of the
passage of this act a right to the property or some part thereof
affected by the said compromise.
3 AND BE IT ENACTED, That the leases of parts of
lots one hundred and fifty eight, one hunt/red and fifty nine,
one hundred and sixty and one hundred and sixty two, men-
tioned in the said terms of compromise, be and the same are
hereby confirmed and declared to be valid and effectual to all
intents and purposes, any defect of title in Catharine Barnitz
notwithstanding.

Pilotage.

CHAPTER 177.
A supplement to the act entitled, an act to establish pilots and
regulate their fees.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act the fol-
lowing reward shall be allowed for pilotage, to wit: for every
vessel from sea to the city of Baltimore four dollars, and from
said city of Baltimore to sea three dollars for each and every
foot of water she shall draw, and from the mouth of Potow-
mack to George Town, and vice versa there shall be an addition
of one fifth to to the above rates, and so in proportion for any
less distance from any other part of this state to sea, or from
sea to any other part of this state, any thing in the said origi-
nal act to the contrary notwithstanding; and all vessels not
owned by citizens of the United States shall pay one third more
pilotage than the rates before mentioned.

Repairs.

CHAPTER 178.
An act for the benefit of James Sewall of Cecil County.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the bridge made and erected by James Sew-
all of Cecil county, at his private expence across Big Elk Creek
in said county, be and the same is hereby vested in the said
James Sewall, his heirs and assigns forever.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said James Sewall,
his heirs or assigns be, and he or they are hereby authorised
and empowered, at his or their own private expence, to repair
or rebuild the said bridge at all times hereafter, in such man-
ner as the same may require to insure its stability and safe
passage.
