LEVIN WINDER, ESQ. GOVERNOR.

bly of Maryland, That the said William P. Ridgaway
be, and he is hereby authorised to collect until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and fifteen, all bal
ances due him as sheriff of Queen Ann's county, in
the same manner as he could or might have done with-
in the time limited by law, any law to the contrary not-
withstanding.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the said William P. Ridgaway, before he pro-
ceeds to execute or distrain the property of any person
or persons for officer's fees or public dues in virtue of
this act, to deliver to such person or persons chargeable
with the same, at least thirty days previous to levying
such execution or distress, an account written in words at
full length of the officers fees or public dues demanded of
him, her or them, with an affidavit annexed if required,
that he hath not received any part thereof, nor any thing
as security or satisfaction for the same, more than the cre-
dit given to the best of his knowledge.

Distress.

3 AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said William
P. Ridgaway, before he derives any benefit from or under
this act, shall lodge his collection books in the clerks of-
fice of Queen Ann's county, to be open for the inspection
of all persons interested in the same.

CHAPTER 64.

Collection
books.

An act authorising John Newton, late sheriff and collector
of Dorchester county , to complete his collections.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the said John Newton, be, and
he is hereby authorised to collect until the first day of Ja-
nuary, eighteen hundred and fifteen,all balances due him
as sheriff and collector of Dorchester county, for the year
of eighteen hundred and twelve, in the same manner as
he could or might have done within the time limited by
law, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

13, 1814.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the said John Newton, before he proceeds to ex-
ecute or distrain the property of any person or persons
for taxes, officers fees or public dues in virtue of ibis act,
to deliver to,or leave at the last place of abode of such per-
son or persons, his, her, or their executors or adminis-
trators, chargeable with the same, at least thirty days pre-
vious to levying such execution or distress, an account
written in words at full length, of the taxes, officers fees,
or public dues demanded of him, her or them, with an af-
fidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not received any
part thereof, nor any thing as security or satisfaction for
the same, more than credit given to the best of his know-
ledge.
