tion of alt persons interested in the same, and give pub-
lic notice thereof, by advertisement to be set up at the
court-house door, and other public pieces in said county.

CHAPTER 65.

Time for col-
lection exten-
ded.

An act authorising Alexander Johnson, late sheriff and
collector of Charles County, to complete his collection.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Alexander Johnson be, and
he is hereby authorised to collect, until the first day of
January, eighteen hundred and fifteen, all balances due
him as sheriff and collector of Charles county, in the
same manner as he could or might have done within the
time limited by law, any law to the contrary notwith-
standing.

Distress.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the said Alexander Johnson, before he proceeds
to execute or distrain the property of any person or per-
sons, for public dues, or officers fees in virtue of this act,
to deliver to such person or persons chargeable with the
same, at least thirty days previous to levying such ex-
ecution or distress, an account written in words at full
length, of the public dues or fees demanded of him, her
or them, with an affidavit annexed, if required, that he
hath not received any part thereof, nor any thing as sc-
curity or satisfaction for the same, more than credit gi-
ven (if any) to the best of his knowledge and belief.

Collection
books.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Alexan-
der Johnson, before he derives any benefit from or un-
der this act, shall lodge, his collection books, or a copy
thereof, in the clerk's office of Charles county, to be open
for the inspection of all persons interested in the same,
and give public notice thereof by advertisement to be set
up at the court-home door, and other public places in
said county.

An act to incorporate the Universal Insurance Company.
WHEREAS sundry persons in this state have formed
themselves into a society, for the purpose of effecting
marine insurances, and also insurances against fire, and
upon lives, and for other purposes herein mentioned;
Therefore,

Maber, Owings & Cheston, Charles Gwinn, & Co., Ro-
bert Smith, Henry Williams, Hollingsworth & Worth-
ington, Otho H. Williams, William Smith, William T.
