CHAPTER 49.

A supplement to an act entitled. An Act to provide for the removal of Lu-
natic Paupers, from the several counties of this state, to the Maryland Hos-
pital, passed at December Session, 1817.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That no
person shall in future, be construed to be a lunatic pauper, and en-
titled to the benefit of the act to which this is a supplement, while
he or she may possess in their own right, any property, real or
personal, or he entitled to the use of any property, by virtue of
last will and testament, or deed of trust for his or her use and be-
nefit, nor shall the child of any person whose property is actually
assessed to one thousand dollars, who may be afflicted with luna-
cy, and whose usual place of abode has been with their parent or
parents, be entitled to the benefit of the act, to which this is a sup-
plement.

Levy $2000.

CHAPTER 50.

An act to authorize the Levy Court of Washington county; to levy a sum of
money to aid in the erection of a bridge over the Conococheaque creek, on the
road leading from Mercersburg to Hagers-town.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland. That the
levy court of Washington county, be, and they are hereby author-
ised to levy , if they shall deem it expedient, on the assessable pro-
perty of the said county, a sum not exceeding two thousand dol-
lars, to be applied in such manner as the said court may direct and
agree, towards the erection of a permanent stone bridge over the
Conococheaque creek, on the road, leading from Mercersburg to
Hagerstown: provided that a sufficient sum of money be raised by
individual subscription to complete, with the said sum, the said
bridge, upon a plan which shall be approved by the said levy court;
and that before any part of the said sum of two thousand dollars
shall be paid over by the said levy court, bond with satisfactory
security, shall be given to the said levy court for the completion of
the said bridge: and provided also, that the said levy shall be
made in two equal portions, in the years eighteen hundred and
twenty-six, and eighteen hundred and twenty-seven.

A further additional supplement to an act entitled, An Act to alter and
change the name of Elizabeth-Town in Washington county, to Hagers-Town,
and to incorporate the same.
Whereas, An act was passed on the twenty-third day of Janua-
ry, eighteen hundred and sixteen entitled," An Act to incorporate
the Hagerstown fire company in Washington county," declaring
that certain persons therein named, and such other persons as
might thereafter become members of said company should be one
community, corporation and body politic forever thereafter, by
the name and style of The Hagerstown Fire Company; and where-
as, in pursuance of said act, a company was organized by the said
name, and continued in existence until dissolved by a subsequent
act, passed on the fifteenth day of February, eighteen hundred
