CHAPTER 30.

An act to authorise Isaac Rawlings of the State of Tennessee, and Juliet Raw-
lings and Susan Rawlings, of Calvert county, to remove into this State certain
Negro Slaves.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Isaac Rawlings, of Tennessee be, and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered to remove into this state, at any time during eighteen months
from the passage of this act, ten negro slaves, now the property of
himself and his two sisters, Susan and Juliet Rawlings, or either of
them, together with such future increase of the said negroes as may
be born within that period, for the purpose of working or employing
such slave or slaves within this state: Provided, that a list of the a-
foresaid negro slaves shall be rendered in the manner now required
by law in cases where slaves acquired by marriage, bequest, in the
course of distribution, or as guardian, are brought into this state: And
provided also, that the said Isaac Rawlings, Susan Rawlings and Juliet
Rawlings, shall bring into this state no slave but such as they, or either
of them, have carried or caused to be carried out of it and their in-
crease.

Restriction.

2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued to enable the said Susan Rawlings, Juliet Rawlings, or Isaac
Rawlings, to sell or dispose of the said slaves imported by virtue of
this act until the said slaves shall have resided within this state three
years next preceding such sale.

CHAPTER 31.
An additional supplement to the act entitled, a supplement to an act entitled,
"an act to provide for a new assessment, and to appoint collectors of the tax
in and for the city and county of Baltimore."
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of the tax for the city of Baltimore be, and they
are hereby authorised and empowered to allow each assessor appoin-
ted by them, a sum not exceeding four hundred dollars in addition to
the sum of three hundred dollars, as allowed by the act to which this
is an additional supplement, for his services in making the assessment
as required by the commissioners of the tax for, the city of Baltimore.
2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of Baltimore county be,
and they are hereby authorised and directed to provide for the pay-
ment of such sum or sums of money so allowed by the said, board of
commissioners.

CHAPTER 32.

A supplement to the act entitled, "an act relating to the Levy Court of Baltimore
County."
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Levy
Court of Baltimore county be, and they are hereby authorised and
empowered to make and close the Levy of said county, for the year
eighteen hundred and twenty-three, on or before the first day of
March, eighteen hundred and twenty-four, any law to the contrary
notwithstanding.

An act to authorise John C. Wederstrandt to remove certain Negroes into this
state.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That at any time
within two years after the passage of this act, John C. Wederstrandt
be, and he is hereby authorised to bring into this state, and them re-
