CHAPTER 164.
An act for the relief of Amos W. Linch, Francis Arlett and others, citizens of
Queen Ann's County.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
levy court of Queen Ann's county, be, and they are hereby authori-
sed and empowered to examine the accounts of Amos W. Linch,
Francis Arlett,and all others similarly situated, for Coffins made for
deceased paupers out of the Poor House, and levy so much of said
accounts as they shall deem right and proper on the assessable pro-
perty of said county, which when so assessed and levied shall be col-
lected as other county charges are, and paid over to the several claim-
ants entitled thereto.

CHAPTER 165.
An act to establish State Warehouses for the Inspection of Tobacco in the City
of Baltimore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland That
it shall not be lawful for the Governor and Council to appoint any
inspector or inspectors to or for any warehouses for the inspection of
Tobacco in the city of Baltimore, other than those houses that are
provided for by this act.

Renting
warehouses.

2. And be it enacted, That the Governor and Council, be, and
they are hereby authorised and required to contract on the best
terms for the renting of such a number of warehouses for the in-
spection of Tobacco in the City of Baltimore, as they may think ne-
cessary.

Three in-
spectors; sa-
lary.
|
3. And be it enacted, That the Governor and Council be, and they
are hereby authorised and required within twenty days after the pas-
sage of this act, and on the first Monday of January, in each and
every year thereafter, to appoint three inspectors for the warehouses
provided for by this act, and that each of the said inspectors shall be
entitled to an annual salary of fifteen hundred dollars to be paid
quarter!) by the treasurer out of the annual revenue accruing to the
state by virtue of this act.

Regulations.
|
4. And be it enacted, That the warehouses and inspectors esta-
blished and appointed by this act, shall be, and they are hereby ren-
dered subject to all the regulations and provisions of the several acts
of assembly relating to the inspection of Tobacco in the City of
Baltimore, except such as are inconsistent with or repugnant to the
provisions of this act.

Payments
on inspection.
|
5. And be it enacted, That the owner or owners of each and every
hogshead of Tobacco inspected at the houses authorised by this act,
shall pay to the inspector or inspectors of the houses at which such
hogshead may be inspected, one dollar for each hogshead inspected,
for the cooperage thereof on the delivery of the note for such hogs-
head, and that the purchaser or the owner of each hogshead, shall
also pay to said inspector before removing the same from said ware-
house, the further sum of one dollar twenty-five cents, for inspection,
outage, porterage and sealing.

Inspectors

6. And be it enacted, That each inspector who may be appointed by
virtue of this act, shall enter into bond to the state of Maryland, with
good and sufficient sureties, to be approved of by the Governor and
Council, in the penal sum of thirty thousand dollars conditioned for
the true and faithful discharge of his duties as inspector, which arise
out of this act, or of any other supplementary act that the legislature
may hereafter pass,
