RESOLUTIONS.
Passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, at December
Session, 1822.
No. 1.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the- Western Shore, pay to the several
members of the general assembly, and the officers thereof or to their order, the
several sums due to them, and for which they shall obtain certificates from the
chairman of the committee of claims.

No. 2.
Whereas, The governor in his communication hath advised, that owing to the
late afflicting dispensations by disease, a day be set apart by the general assem-
bly, and recommended to the people of the state to be observed as a day of hu-
miliation and prayer; Therefore be it resolved by the General Assembly, That
the thirteenth day of March next, be set apart and recommended to the people
of the state to be observed as a day of humiliation and prayer, and that this reso-
lution be published in such newspapers throughout the state, as the governor
and council may direct, for the information of the citizens thereof.

No. 3.
WHEREAS, The great national road leading from Cumberland to Wheeling,
which is of such incalculable advantage in facilitating the intercourse between
the Atlantic and the Western states, and which was constructed al a great ex-
pense, has already suffered from the want of that regular superintendance, and
of those repairs which are necessary to the preservation of such a work; There-
fore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the senators and re-
presentatives of this state, in Congress be requested to use their best exertions
to procure the immediate passage of a law by Congress, making a sufficient ap-
propriation to repair the great national road, leading from Cumberland to
Wheeling.
Resolved, That the governor be, and he is hereby requested to cause a copy
of this resolution to be transmitted to each of the senators and representatives
of this state in Congress.

No. 4.
Resolved, That the members of the legislature, in respect to the memory of
the late William Craig, jun. esq. deceased, a delegate from Cecil county, who
departed this life while attending to the discharge of his duties, wear scarfs and
bands during the remainder of the session, and that the funeral expenses be
placed on the journal of accounts.

No. 5.
Whereas, Roger Hooper of Dorchester county, in the year of eighteen hun-
dred and seventeen purchased of the state of Maryland, certain lands laying in
said county, and designated on the plot by lot, number nine of the Choptank
Indian Lands, under the impression that the same contained two hundred and
forty-seven acres and a half acre, and it since appears that the said lot con-
tains only two hundred and thirty six acres and ninety-two perches; There-
fore,

Resolved, That the state agent for the Eastern shore of Maryland, be, and
he is hereby authorised and directed to credit the bond of the said Roger Hooper,
from the elate of the same, for any deficiency in land, supposed to be contained
in said lot, in proportion to the whole purchase money for the same; And be it
further resolved. That the said agent be authorised and directed to credit the
said bond of Roger Hooper, with the amount of taxes due on the same at the
time of the purchase and paid by him the said Roger Hooper; Provided,
That the petitioner Roger Hooper, shall satisfy the agent of the truth of all

No. 6.
Resolved, That the governor and council be, and they arc hereby authorized
and directed to pay John I. Stull Esq. or order the balance of one hundred and
forty-nine dollars fifty-four and a half cents, due Elie Williams Esq. deceased,
as commissioner to examine the Potomac river, agreeably to the certificate of
the commissioners made in pursuance, to resolution No. 26, passed December
session eighteen hundred and twenty.
