and directed, before he shall take any subscription for the stock to be '
constituted under the provisions of the original law to which this is
a supplement to accept such premium as may be offered for the same.
2. And be it enacted, That the creditors of the Maryland Peni-
tentiary be permitted to subscribe for said stock to the amount of
their respective claims on said institution.
3. And be it enacted, That such parts of the original act as is re-
pugnant hereto be and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 208.

An act to divorce James Norris, senr, and Sarah his wife, of Saint
Mary's county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said James Norris, senr, be, and he is hereby divorced from bed
and board and mutual cohabitation with his wife Sarah Norris.
2. And be it enacted, That the said Sarah Shall not, by virtue of her
marriage with the said James, be authorised to have or claim any
right or interest in the estate, real, personal or mixed of the said
James, to be by him acquired after the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 209.

An act to continue in force the acts of assembly which would expire
with the present session.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all
such acts, and parts of such acts of assembly, as would expire with
the present session of assembly, be and the same are hereby con-
tinued until the twentieth day of November next, and to the end of
the next session of assembly, which shall happen thereafter.

CHAPTER 210.

An act to authorise Addison Belt of Montgomery county, to import
certain slaves into this state.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Addison Belt of Montgomery county, be and he is hereby authorised,
at any time after the passage of this act, to remove and bring into
this state, from the state of Virginia, the following slaves, obtained
in right of his wife, to wit: Peter, Nan, Charlotte, Lydia, Nanny,
Jesse, Charles, Isaac, Daphney, Zac, Ceaser, Abba and Wilson, and
that the removal of the said negroes to this state, shall not in any

manner entitle them to their freedom; Provided, that the said negroes
when removed agreeably to the provisions of this act, shall be regis-
tered among the records of Montgomery county court, within three
months after their arrival in this state.

Proviso.

2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act contained, shall be
construed to authorise a disposition of said slaves, except in cases of
disposition by last will and testament, and dispositions by law for
bona fide debts, or consequent upon intestacy, in less than three years
after the passage of this act.

Limitation.

CHAPTER 211.

An act to alter the time of electing the mayor, recorder, aldermen and
common council of the city of Annapolis and for other purposes.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the election of the mayor, recorder, aldermen and common council
of the city of Annapolis, shall take place on the first Monday in
April instead of the first Monday in October, as is now prescribed
