Common
council.
Provisos
|
2. And be it enacted. That the election of the members of the com-
mon council of the said city, shall take place on the first Monday in
April, eighteen hundred and twenty four, and on the same day an-
nually thereafter; Provided, that nothing herein contained shall be
construed to extend the term of service of the present condition coun-
cil beyond the period for which they were elected; And provided also,
that an election shall take place on the first Monday of October next
for common council, whose term of service shall empire on the first
Monday of April next ensuing.

3. And be it enacted. That the next election of the mayor, record-
er and aldermen, shall take place of the first Monday in April, eigh-
teen hundred and twenty five, and on the same day triennially there-
after.
AND WHEREAS, in the act, entitled, "An act to alter and amend the
charter of the city of Annapolis, " no provision is made for the elec-
tion of a recorder in case of his death, refusal, disqualification or
removal out of the limits of the city during the term for which he
is elected; therefore,

recorder.

Be it enacted. That in such, case the mayor, aldermen and com-
mon council for the time being, shall elect a recorder for the residue
of the term.

Incorporation
|
CHAPTER 212.
An act to incorporate a company to establish a Woollen Carpet and Flan-
nel Factory in the city of Baltimore.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
a company be incorporated to establish a woollen, carpet and flannel
factory in the city of Baltimore, and that said company be and the
same is hereby accordingly created and declared to be a body politic
and corporate, by the name and style of the president and directors
of the woollen, carpet and flannel manufacturing company of Balti-
more, & by that name, and under that style, shall have succession du-
ring the continuance of the present incorporation, and be authorised
to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, as well in law as in equi-
ty, also to fix upon, make, have and use a common seal, liable to be
changed or altered at pleasure and to ordain, constitute and establish,
such by-laws, rules 5: regulations from time to time, as shall seem ad-
visable and necessary for the better management and promotion of
the said company, not inconsistent with, or contrary to this act, or the
constitution and laws of this, or the United States.

Capital stock
|
2. And be it enacted, That a subscription book shall be opened in
the city of Baltimore, for a capital stock of fifteen thousand dollars,
in two hundred shares of fifty dollars each, under the direction of Jo-
seph Jamison, James L. Hawkins, Robert Fisher, William G. Hands,
John R. Rowe, Alexander L. Boggs, James S Robison, David
Burke, Benjamin C. Ross, Richard H. Jones, Philip Uhler and
George C. Smith, who are hereby appointed commissioners for that
purpose, and who shall admit subscribers in person and by proxy.

Payments.

3. And be it enacted. That every subscriber shall pay five dollars
per share to the commissioners on subscribing, and not exceeding ten
pur cent, every sixty days thereafter, on the amount subscribed, until
the whole capital or so much thereof as the president and director
may deem sufficient to accomplish the object intended, is paid in.
