CHAPTER 144.
An act to regulate the pay of the Justices of the Orphans' Courts of
the several counties therein named.
Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, each justice of the orphans'
court of Somerset, Charles, Saint Mary's, Dorchester and Talbot
counties, be, and he is hereby entitled to receive in lieu of his pre-
sent per diem, the sum of two dollars and fifty cents for each day's
attendance; and that all such parts of any act or acts which are in-
consistent herewith, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 145.
An act to provide for the widening of East-Street, in the City of Bal-
timore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners who officiated in laying out and extending
South-street in the city of Baltimore, or a majority of them, be,
and they are hereby appointed commissioners to widen East-street
in the said city, from the alley on the west side of Doctor Ashton
Alexander's house, to Monument Square, so that the width of the
said street may be the same from the alley to the said square, that
it now is opposite to said Doctor Alexander's house.

2. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid commissioners or a
majority of them, shall ascertain and determine the damage sustained
by the proprietor or proprietors of the lot, a part of which will be
required for the widening aforesaid; and to assess upon the pro-
perty to be benefitted thereby, the amount of such damage, adding
thereto a reasonable commission for the collection thereof, and all
other expenses attending the same.

3. And he it enacted, That the aforesaid commissioners, or a
majority of them, shall return to the office of the register of the
city, a plot of the widening of the said street, and a report of the
damage awarded and assessed as before required; and it shall there-
upon be the duty of the collector of the city, to collect the several
sums so assessed, which sums, until paid, shall be a lien upon the
property assessed therewith; and he shall be authorised to sell the
property, for the discharge of the assessment, upon ten days ad-
vertisement thereof in two news-papers printed within the city.

4. And be it enacted, That the proprietor or proprietors, or
the representatives of the proprietor of said lot, shall be entitled to
demand the sum awarded in his or their favor from the corpora-
tion of the city of Baltimore, whose duty it shall be to pay the
same in thirty days after the report of the commissioners shall
have been filed in the register's office. And it is hereby made the
duty of the proper officers of the said city, to proceed to the actual
widening the said street, and the removal of the obstructions
therein, forty days after the filing of the report aforesaid.

An act for the re-valuation of real and personal property in Kent
county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of the tax for Kent county, be, and they
