ginia a negro girl, in order that his family may receive her services
during his continuance at the place aforesaid; And whereas, It is
doubtful whether, by the existing laws of this state, he can remove
said negro without the aid of the general assembly—Therefore,

Dec. Ses. 1821.

Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
William, D. Davidson, a lieutenant in the army of the United
States, be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to remove
and bring into this state from the state of Virginia, a negro girl na-
med Mar)', aged about fifteen years, at any time within six months
after the passage of this act, any law to the contrary notwithstand-
ing.

CHAPTER 135.

A supplement to an act entitled, An act for the relief of the Sheriffs

and Collectors of the several counties in this state.
Sec. 1. Be it en acted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, any judge of the several
county courts, shall have and exercise during the recess of the said
courts, all and every power and authority vested in the judges of the
county courts by the act to which this is a supplement.

2. And be it enacted, That any thing in the act to which this
is a supplement, inconsistent with or repugnant to the provisions of
this act shall be and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 136.

A supplement to the act entitled, An act for founding a College on the
Western Shore of this state, and constituting the same, together
with Washington College on the Eastern Shore into one University,
by the name of the University of Maryland.

1822.

Sec. 1. BE it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so much of the fifteenth section of the act to which this is a
supplement, as requires the signature of the principal of Saint
John's College, to any mandate directed to the principal, the vice
principal and professors, to admit any person or persons, not a stu-
dent or students belonging to the said college, to any honorary or
other degree or degrees in the same, be, and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

2. And be it enacted, That the signature of the president of
the board of trustees for the time being, be, and the same is hereby
declared to be necessary to give validity to such mandate.

CHAPTER 137.

An act to continue in force the acts of assembly which would expire
with the present session.
Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all such acts and parts of such acts of assembly as would expire
with the present session of assembly, be, and the same are hereby
continued until the first day of November next, and to the end of
the next session of assembly which shall happen thereafter.
