No. 27.
Resolved, That Aquila Beall, Clerk of Prince George's county, be and he is
hereby released from the payment of the nine per cent per annum, of the fifteen
per cent for interest chargeable on the principal due from the said Aquila Beall to
the state, on condition only that the said Aquila Beall shall punctually pay to the
treasurer of the western shore on or before the first day of August next, the prin-
cipal sum due to the state, with interest on the same, at the rate of six per cent per
annum, from the several and respective periods at which by law the same are made

payable.

Resolved, That Beene S. Pigman, executor of Hanson Briscoe, be and he is
hereby released from the payment of the nine per cent per annum, of the fifteen
per cent for intercut chargeable on the principal sum due from the said Hanson Bris-
coe to this state, on condition only, that the said Beene S. Pigman shall punctually pay
to the treasurer of the western shore, on or before the first day of January eighteen
hundred and twenty-three, the principal sum due to the state, with interest on the
same, at the rate of six per cent per annum, from the several and respective peri-
ods at which by law the same are made payable to the treasurer.

No. 29.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, be and he is hereby direc-
ted to pay to Jehu Chandler of city of Annapolis, or to his order, nine hundred
and seventy seven dollars and eighty-six and three quarter cents, as compensation
for extra services performed by him agreeably to the resolution passed in Novem-
ber session 1811 for the years 1812, 1813, 1814 and 1815.

WHEREAS, It appears to this general assembly, that Samuel Lecompte, George
A. Z. Smith, Charles Leary and Stephen Thomas, of Dorchester county, are ex-
tensively engaged in reclaiming a quantity of salt marsh which they have purchased
from the proprietors thereof, laying and being in Somerset and Dorchester counties,
and on the rivers Nanticoke and Chicknacomico; and whereas, they have taken
out warrants of survey from the land office lor the eastern shore, and have located,
the same on the marsh lands laying contiguous to those they have purchased, and
have prayed this general assembly to relinquish to them the composition money due
thereon, and it appearing to this general assembly wise to encourage the reclaiming
of such land—Therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the composition money
due on the said warrants, be and the same are hereby released to the said persons.

Resolved, That the resolution passed at December session 1817, in favor of the
clerk of the council, and numbered 41, be and the same is hereby rescinded.
No. 32.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby autho-
rised and required to pay unto Benjamin Duvall, of Elisha, an old revolutionary sol-
dier, or to his order, a sum of money annually in quarterly payments, equal to the
half pay of a private, as a further remuneration for the services rendered his coun-
try during the revolutionary war.
No. 33.
Resolved, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised
and empowered to enquire into the services rendered this state by Henry M Mur-
ray in prosecuting the officers of certain banks in the city of Baltimore, and allow
him such compensation as they in their wisdom may deem reasonable and just.
No. 34.
Resolved, That Joseph M. Cromwell former sheriff of Frederick county, be
and he is hereby released from the payment of the nine per cent per annum, of the
fifteen per cent, for interest chargeable on the principal sum due from the said Jo-
seph M. Cromwell to the state, on condition only, that the said Joseph M. Crom-
well shall punctually pay to the treasurer of the western shore, on or before the
first day of January eighteen hundred and twenty-three, the principal sums due to
the state, with interest on the same, at the rate of six per cent per annum, from
the several and respective periods at which by law the same are made payable.
No. 35.
Resolved, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised, in
all cases of debts due to this state from the securities of William S. Handy, late
sheriff of Somerset county, where judgment has been obtained or may be obtained
before the meeting of the next general assembly against them, and the said securi-
ties are liable to execution, upon applicative being made to them, and being fully
