CHAP. LIII.

An Additional Supplement to an Act, passed at December Session on the
twenty-seventh day of December, in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and eleven, entitled, An Act to authorise a Lottery or Lotteries in the City of
Baltimore.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the managers authorised to draw the said lottery,
have represented to the general assembly, that from unavoidable
causes it will be impossible for them to complete the drawing of
the said lottery within the time limited for the drawing of the
same, without the risk of great personal loss, and have prayed for
an extension of time to complete the drawing of the same; and
the prayer of their petition appearing reasonable, Therefore.

Time for drawing
lottery extended.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
time for the drawing of the said lottery shall be and the same is
hereby extended to the first day of May next, any thing to the
contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding.

Acts of managers
deemed valid.

2. And be it enacted, That all acts done by the said managers,
and all contracts by them made in relation to the said lottery,
shall he and the same are hereby declared to be valid, and shall
have the same effect and operation, as if the drawing of the said
lottery had been complete within the time limited for the draw-
ing of the same.

CHAP. LIV.
An Act to alter and change the time of holding the Levy Court of Anne-Arun-

del County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the le-
vy court of Anne-Arundel county are hereby authorised and re-
quired, to meet at the place for holding the county court, between
the first of January and the first of October in each and every
year, for the purpose of adjusting the ordinary expenses of said
county, any law, custom or usage, to the contrary notwithstand-
ing.

Passed Jan. 13, 1821.

CHAP. LV.

An Act for the relief of the Persons therein mentioned.

WHEREAS by the petition of Matthew M'Laughlin, Thomas
Sheppard and Nicholas Stansbury, managers of a lottery to build
a masonic hall for Washington lodge No. 3 of the. city of Balti-
more, it is set forth to this general assembly, that they, jointly
with other managers of the said lottery, did in pursuance of a
law passed at December session eighteen hundred and sixteen,
chapter one hundred and eighty-six, publish a scheme of said lot-
tery to raise a sum of money not exceeding thirty thousand dol-
lars, and did give bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty
of sixty thousand dollars, with the condition required by the said
law, and did, in all other respects, comply with the provisions of
the said law; and by the said petition it is also set forth, that the
said managers proceed to sell tickets according to the afore-
said scheme; that at December session eighteen hundred and se-
venteen, a law was passed, chapter one hundred and fifty-four,
which restrained the said managers from resorting to a second
lottery in case the first should not. raise the sum contemplated by
the act of eighteen hundred and sixteen, and further required of
the said managers to deduct from all prizes in said lottery five
