SECTION 1. Be. it, therefore enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland, That all elections and re-
turns thereof, heretofore held and returned, for
said corporation, and that the ordinances passed
by the present Burgess and Commissioners, on the
thirty-first day of July, eighteen hundred and
fifty-seven, from section 1st to section 14th, inclu-
sive, he, and the same are hereby made valid and
effectual in law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT for the relief of the Trustees of John
Thomey, former collector of State Taxes for
Caroline county.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Trustees of John
Thomey, former collector of State Tax of Caro-
line county, be and they are hereby released from
the payment of interest on the taxes levied for
the use of the State by the Commissioners for said
county for the year eighteen hundred and forty-

four; Provided, That one third of said taxes be
paid on or before the first day of May next, and
the balance thereof on or before the first day of
January, eighteen hundred and fifty-nine; and
upon this further proviso, that the said Trustees
be not released from the payment of such interest
as may accrue on the principal from the passage
of this act, and of such interest as, may have been
received by the said John Thomey, in his life
time, or by the said Trustees or either of them
since his death.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, This act shall take
