CHAPTER 73.

Passed Febru-

ary 12, 1858.

AN ACT to incorporate the Village of Leonard
Town, in Saint Mary's county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, That it would greatly contribute to the ad-
vantage and improvement of the Village of
Leonard Town, in Saint Mary's county, if the
same should be placed under the care and re-
gulation of certain Commissioners to be elected
by the citizens thereof, and vested with suffi-
cient powers to forward and effect the purposes
intended; Therefore,

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the citizens of the Village
of Leonard Town, in Saint Mary's county, shall
be and they are hereby constituted and made a
body corporate, by the name of the Commission-
ers of the Village of Leonard Town, and as such
shall have succession, and by their corporate
name may sue and be sued, plead and be implead-
ed, grant, receive and do all other acts as natural
persons; and may purchase and hold real, per-
sonal and mixed property, or dispose of the same
for the benefit of the said Village, and have and
use a common seal which may be changed at
pleasure.

Qualification
of voters.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all free white
male citizens of the Village of Leonard Town,
aforesaid, above twenty-one years of age, who
shall have resided in said village for the space of
four months, and twelve months in the State,
next preceeding the election, and shall be at the
time citizens of the United States, shall on the
first Monday in May next, at the court house in
said village, and on the first Monday in May, in
each and every year thereafter, at same court
house, or such other house as may be designated
the Town Hall by the said municipality, be au-
thorized to elect five discreet persons, Commis-
sioners for the said village, and who shall have
resided within the limits of said village for at
least twelve months next preceeding the election.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any Justice of
the Peace for the county aforesaid, shall in the
