shall proceed in the same manner as examiners
are by that act required to proceed, and be gov-
erned by the general provisions of the said act,
except that they shall have power to examine and
enquire if the public convenience will be promo-
ted by widening the road from Georgetown to
Georgetown Cross Roads, to make it sixty feet in
width, and the roads from Massey's Cross Roads
and Chesterville to Georgetown Cross Roads, to
make them forty feet wide, or any width from thir-
ty to sixty feet, for the first mentioned road, and
from thirty to forty feet, for the last mentioned
two roads, and of straightening one of the roads
aforesaid, and may report upon the said roads, as
to such widths, and assess damages accordingly,
and that the said County Commissioners shall
have the power to condemn such roads for the
public use, and cause the same to bo made and
constructed as other roads are similarly provided
for under the said act, and to do all other acts and
to proceed in relation to the same, as by said act
of Assembly is provided, in relation to opening
and altering public roads; and that this act shall
take effect from its passage.

Not lawful for
persons to act
as agents of in-
surance com-
panies not in-
corporated by
this State.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That from and after the passage
of this act it shall not be lawful for any person or
persons to act as the agent or agents within this
State, for any individual, or association of indi-
viduals, or corporations not incorporated, and au-
thorised by the laws of this State to make insu-
rance on marine or fire risks, or insurance on
lives, or to make other insurances, or to receive
or transmit offers for insurances to their princi-
