LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Damages to be
valued end as-
sessed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said com-
missioners hereby appointed, shall value the
damages that may be sustained by the persons
through whose land the said road may pass, tak-
ing in view the advantages and disadvantages of
said road to each, and the damages so ascertained
shall be levied and assessed in each county, as
other charges are, and shall be paid by the county
wherein such damage may be sustained.

Commission-
ers to take
oath.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said com-
missioners before they proceed to act, shall take
an oath before some justice of the peace, that they
will without favor, partiality or prejudice, assess
the damages sustained by persons whose lands the
said road shall pass through, and that they will
perform all duties of commissioners faithfully, and
to the best of their judgment.

CHAPTER 423.

Passed March
8, 1858.

AN ACT to change the present Bridge across
the Pocomoke river, at the town of Snow Hill,
in Worcester county, to a pivot or draw Bridge.

Commission-
ers authorised
to construct a
pivot bridge.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the county commissioners
of Worcester county, be and they are hereby au-
thorised and directed, to construct and build a
substantial pivot or draw in the bridge at Snow
Hill, with an aperture of not less than twenty-
six feet; Provided, that said pivot or draw does
not cost more than five hundred dollars.

Commission-
ers authorised
to levy.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county com-
missioners for Worcester county, at their next an-
nual levy after the passage of this act, shall levy
on the assessable property of the said county, the
sum of five hundred dollars, to pay for the con-
struction of the said pivot or draw; Provided, that
no part of said money shall be expended, until
the proposed work shall have been contracted for
by some competent person.
