CHAPTER 422.

AN ACT to authorise the opening of a road in
Carroll and Howard counties.

Passed March
6, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Henry S. Davis, Upton L.
Dorsey and Charles R. Waters, of Carroll county,
and Reuben Warfield and Denton Davis, of
Howard county, be and they are hereby appointed
commissioners to survey, lay out and open a road
not exceeding thirty feet in width, starting from
Blakely's Mills in Howard county, and running
to the Lisbon and Woodbine road, near the bridge
over the Western Falls, thence crossing said bridge
and running to near the east end of John Zepp's
lane; thence to near the Big Spring on Samuel
G. Davis' land, thence to the Poplar Springs and
Carroll county road, near the new Baptist Church ;
and thence to Baker's Shop on the Harrisville
road; and the said commissioners shall make a
plat of that part of said road through Howard
county, and return the same to the clerk of the
Circuit Court for that county, to be recorded; they
shall in like manner, make a plat of that part of
the road through Carroll county, and return the
same to the clerk of the Circuit Court for that
county for record; and the said road when so
opened, shall be deemed a public road forever
thereafter, and shall be kept in repair as other
public roads are directed to be kept in said

counties.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the expenses
of locating and opening that part of said road
in Howard county, shall be paid by Howard
county, and the expenses of locating and opening
that part of said road in Carroll county, shall be
paid by Carroll county, and the commissioners of
said counties, are hereby authorised and required
on receiving from the commissioners hereby ap-
pointed, an account on oath of the expenses, in-
cluding an allowance of two dollars per day, to
the commissioners for their service, to levy the
same on the assessable property of said counties,
wherein such expense may accrue, respectively, to
be collected as other county charges are now col-
lected,
