hundred and fifty-nine, for the payment of the
assessment for the opening of Jefferson street and
for paving the same, and for filling up and pre-
paring for use the south grounds of the hospital
rendered necessary by the opening of Jefferson
street, and the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to
be paid as aforesaid after the first day of January,
eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, for the repair
and improvement of buildings during the year
ending January first, eighteen hundred and
sixty.

Authorised to
sell property.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Pre-
sident and Visitors are hereby authorised and re-
quired to sell so much of the grounds of the hos-
pital as lies south of Jefferson street, as soon as
they can do so for a reasonable price, and to apply
the purchase money to building a wall on the
south boundary of the hospital ground.

Compensation
for the support
of pauper luna-
tics.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the President
and Visitors of. the Maryland Hospital shall
receive from each county and the city of Balti-
more one hundred and fifty dollars, for the support
of each pauper lunatic sent to said hospital by
any county or the city of Baltimore, instead of
one hundred dollars as provided by Resolution
number sixty-five, of eighteen hundred and thirty-
eight.

Streets, &c.,
not to be open-
ed through hos-
pital grounds.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That hereafter no
road, street, lane or alley shall be laid out, or
condemned, or opened through the grounds of
the hospital within the squares bounded by Mon-
ument, Wolf, Jefferson and Broadway streets, in
.the city of Baltimore, without the consent first
had of the General Assembly or of the President
and Visitors of the hospital.

Treasurer to
disburse.

SEC. 6. And be it enabled, That the Treasurer
shall, on the warrant of the Comptroller, disburse
the several sums of money hereby appropriated
to or upon the order of the President and Visitors
of the Maryland Hospital.

In force.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
