CHAPTER 384.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to regulate the location of school houses
in the primary school districts of this State.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That hereafter the taxable in-
habitants of each and every primary school dis-
trict in Queen Anne's county, shall, in locating
the site for a school house, select a site as near
the centre of said district as practicable.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in all cases
where school houses have been built in any of
said districts on sites of convenient distance to the
scholars residing in the same, that the taxable
inhabitants of the same, or a majority of them, if
they desire it, shall have the power and authority
to select a new site, according to the provisions of
the first section of this act, for a school house,
and to build a school house on the said site, the
expense whereof shall be assessed on the taxable
inhabitants of said district in the same manner as
is now provided by law for the erection of primary
school houses in the several districts of said
county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the trustees of
the said primary school districts, whenever a new
school house is built according to the provisions
of the second section of this bill, shall have
power and authority to sell and dispose of the old
school house and site, in such way as a majority
of said taxable inhabitants of the primary school
districts shall determine, and to sell and convey
absolutely to any one purchasing the same.

take effect from its passage.
