the same are applicable, shall continue to apply
to the said William Pole and Pleasant Hunter
respectively, to the taxes in their hands for col-
lection, and to all their proceedings until the

completion of said collection as aforesaid; Pro-
vided, nevertheless, that they shall respectively
complete the said collection of taxes within eigh-
teen months from the passage of this act.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in levying by
distress under the eighth and twelfth sections of
the act aforesaid, the said William Pole and
Pleasant Hunter, and the present and every fu-
ture sheriff of Baltimore county, may levy upon
the property assessed, for the taxes for which
such levy made or upon any other property with-
in the said county, whether the same be real or
personal, belonging to the persons from whom
such taxes in arrear may be respectively due.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the fourth sec-
tion' of the act entitled an act to authorise and
empower the Circuit Courts and Circuit Judges
to extend the time of sheriffs and collectors, and
those succeeding them, to complete their collec-
tions, passed the twenty-first day of April, eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-two, be and the same is
hereby repealed only so far as the same may
affect or apply to the taxes as aforesaid, or any
of them, remaining for collection in the hands of
the said William Pole and Pleasant Hunter.

Repealed.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect and be in force from its passage.

CHAPTER 375.

In force.

AN ACT to empower the board of Commission-
ers of Howard county, to allow supervisors and
laborers working on the public roads in said
county, a greater compensation.

8, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That hereafter in the annual levy
