SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 371.

In force.

AN ACT to incorporate the trustees of Oak
Grove School House, in Washington county.

10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Alexander Shafer, Martin
Beaughley, Nathaniel Long, Samuel A. Stone-
breaker and Joseph Long, trustees of Oak Grove
School House, in Election District Number Two,
in Washington county, be and they are hereby
constituted a body politic and corporate, by the
name of the Trustees of Oak Grove School House,
and by that name shall have perpetual succession,
and may sue and be sued, implead and be im-
pleaded, and may purchase and hold property,
whether acquired by purchase, or gift, or devise,

and whether real, or personal, or mixed; Pro-
vided however, that the said corporation shall not
at any one time hold property altogether exceed-
ing five thousand dollars in amount or value;
and they may make and have corporate a seal,
and the same to break or alter at pleasure, and
shall have all other rights belonging to similar
corporations by the laws of the State.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the object of said
corporation is hereby declared to be the promotion
of the education of the children of the neighbor-
hood wherever the said school house is located.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the entire
management of the affairs and concerns of the said
corporation and all the corporate powers hereby
granted shall be and are hereby vested in a board
of not less than five trustees, resident in said
election district, in the neighborhood of said
school house, and who shall also be patrons of the
said school, that may be taught in said school
house, to be elected by the patrons of the said
school annually on the first Saturday in January,
in each and every year, under such by-laws as
may be adopted by the board of trustees, and the
