dollars is hereby appropriated to be paid: one
hundred dollars each to the Independent Greys,
the Baltimore City Guards, the Wells and Mc-
Comas Riflemen, the Law Greys and the Marion
Reserve Guards, for services rendered the State
of Maryland, by order of the Governor, in sup-
pressing a riot on the line of the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad, in the month of May, eighteen
hundred and fifty seven.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Comptroller
issue his warrant and the Treasurer thereon pay
to each of the said military companies for their
services above mentioned, the sum of one hundred
dollars.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 368.

Comptroller to
issue warrant.

AN ACT granting the right to Josiah Owens to
build a wharf into the Nanticoke river, at Sharp-
town, Somerset county.

Passed March
9, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it, enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Josiah Owens, of Somer-
set county, be and he is hereby granted the privi-
lege of building into the Nanticoke river, from his
land lying on the said river, in the village of
Sharptown, in said county, a wharf of suitable
dimensions and capacity to accommodate any ves-
sels that sail in the Nanticoke river, to be at said
wharf to take in and discharge cargoes.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Josiah
Owens, and those claiming under him, shall have
the right to charge and collect the customary or
lawful wharfage on all wood, lumber and commo-
dities of every description that may be put on
said wharf.
