CHAPTER 366.

AN ACT to incorporate certain persons as trus-
tees of the United Brethren in Christ Church,
in Carroll county, to be called the Mt. Pleasant
Church.

Passed March

10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Henry Shriner, Daniel
Frock, Joseph Witherow, John Ridinger and
Peter Mark, together with the minister for the
time being, and their successors in office, ap-
pointed and perpetuated as hereinafter provided,
shall be and they and their successors are here-
by declared to be a corporation and body poli-
tic, to manage the estate, property, interest and
inheritance of the United Brethren in Christ
Church, in Taneytown District in Carroll county,
and to have, hold, receive, acquire, enjoy and
retain all the property of every description,
whether real, personal or mixed, now properly
belonging to the said church, whether in law or
equity, for the use and benefit of said church,
according to the rules and discipline of said
church .

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That as often as
one or more of the said trustees or their succes-
sors shall die, resign or cease to be members of
the United Brethren in Christ Church, or cease
to reside within six miles of said church or house
of worship, then and so often the trustees for the
time being, then surviving and remaining, or a
majority of them, are authorised and required to
nominate, elect and choose by ballot, one or more
sober and discreet free male white person or per-
sons, who shall be twenty-one years of age, resi-
dent within six miles of said church or house of
worship, and who shall have been a member of
said church at least six months preceding such
election, and none other, to fill the place of said
trustee or trustees so dead, resigned or otherwise
disqualified as aforesaid, so as to keep up the full
number of five trustees for the said church or
house of worship; the said persons so elected or
chosen, from time to time to continue members
of the said corporation or body politic, until they
