same being in full compensation for the trial of the
cases of John Fearson vs. the State of Maryland,
George A. Williams, vs. the State of Maryland,
Wesley Hoofman vs. the State of Maryland, Dun-
nington and others vs. the State of Maryland, in.
the Court of Appeals, as counsel for the State by
the appointment of the Governor.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 362.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise and require the removal
of gates from the public roads in the Third
Election District of Caroline county.

10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Supervisors of Public
Roads in the Third Election District of Caroline
county be and they are hereby required to give
six months notice, by publication in some news-
paper published in Caroline county, and also in
such other manner as they may deem proper, to
the land holders along the line of the public
roads in the Third Election District of said county,
that all gates now erected, or which may be
erected after the passage of this act, on any part
of said public roads in said election district, must
be removed therefrom by the persons to whose
lands said gates may be or are adjacent, on or
before the first day of September, in the year
eighteen hundred and fifty-eight; and that if
said gates be not removed at the expiration of
the time limited by this act, that they, the said
supervisors, will proceed to remove said gates in
the manner hereinafter prescribed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever
any person or persons shall fail to comply with
with the provisions of the first section of this act,
it shall be the duty of the supervisors of said
district to proceed forthwith to remove such.
