LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Compensation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That from and after the pas-
sage of this act, that instead of the fees now paid
to the surveyor of Charles county, the said sur-
veyor shall be entitled to receive for each and
every day in which he shall be engaged in the
discharge of his duties as surveyor, or shall be
employed in public surveys by warrant or order
from any court in this State, or in private surveys
at the request of any citizen or citizens, person or
persons, in any county in this State, the sum of
four dollars.

Allowance for
furnishing
plat.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said sur-
veyor shall receive for each plat furnished by him
the sum of four dollars, provided the said sur-
veyor be not employed more than six hours in
working out said plat, and for any time employed
more than six hours in making out said plat or
plats, he shall be entitled to receive a pro rata al-
lowance.

Mileage.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said sur-
veyor be entitled to receive for journey fee the
sum of five cents per mile for every mile traveled
from his own house to the line to be surveyed,
and returning thereto.

Fees — how re-
coverable.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said sur-
veyor shall charge and receive from the party em-
ploying him the several fees specified in this act,
and if not paid, may recover the same by warrant
before a justice of the peace of the county in

which said survey shall be made or done; Pro-
vided nevertheless, that all fees accruing under
surveys made and done by warrant or order from
any court of this State, by the said surveyor be
filed as costs in the case, and be recoverable by
execution as other costs are, unless otherwise
paid.

Repealed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all acts or
parts of acts inconsistent with this act, be and
they are hereby repealed.
