may sue and be sued, and have a common seal
and the same at their pleasure alter, and entitled
to use the powers and privileges incident to such
Corporations.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said cor-
poration shall be capable of taking and holding
real and personal estate not exceeding in value
the sum of twenty thousand dollars.
|

Banking privi-
leges prohibit-

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corpora-
tion shall not be permitted to issue any note,
token, device or scrip, or other evidence of
debt to be used as currency.

|
May pass by-
laws.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That said Corpora-
tion shall have power to make by-laws for its
government and to alter and amend the same at
pleasure; Provided they do not conflict with the
Constitution and laws of the United States, of the
State of Maryland, or the laws of the Grand Lodge
of Maryland,

To go into ef-
fect and enure
for 60 years.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act of in-
corporation shall take effect from the date of its
passage, and continue in force for fifty years, and
that the Legislature reserves to itself the right to
alter and amend this act of incorporation at
pleasure.

A SUPPLEMENT TO AN ACT entitled an
act to incorporate a Company to build a Turn-
pike Road from Woodsboro' to Monocacy bridge,
on the road leading to Frederick City.
|
|
|
Authorised to
extend road.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Woodsboro' and
Turnpike Company, a body corporate, created by
the act of eighteen hundred and fifty-three, chap-
ter three hundred and four, be and the same is
hereby authorised and empowered, upon its ex-
pressing its assent to, and accepting this act, to
construct the said road from its present terminus
