CHAPTER 327.

AN ACT further amendatory of an act entitled,

"An act to authorise the Commissioners of St.
Mary's county to levy on the assessable pro-
perty of St. Mary's county, a tax for the purpose
of erecting a County Jail.

Passed March
6, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the County Commis-
sioners of St. Mary's county be and they are
hereby authorised to levy on the assessable pro-
perty of St. Mary's county, such additional
sum or sums of money as they may deem neces-
sary to have erected in some suitable location, in
Leonardtown, in said county, for the purpose of

erecting a suitable jail for said county; Pro-
vided, such sum or sums of money shall not
exceed three thousand dollars, ($3,000,) as pro-
vided in the act of March 10th, eighteen hundred
and fifty-six, chapter two hundred and forty-three.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 328.

In force.

AN ACT to increase the compensation of the
Crier of the Circuit Court for Allegany county.

Passed March
10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Commissioners of Alle-
gany county be and they are hereby directed to
levy for the use of the Crier of the Circuit Court
of said county, a sufficient sum to pay him two
dollars per day for each day he shall hereafter be
employed as the crier of the said court.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the collectors
of taxes of said county shall pay to said crier two
dollars per day for each day he shall be employed
as said crier, which compensation shall be paid
at the close of each session of said court.
