CHAPTER 303.

Passed March
8, 1858.

AN ACT appropriating a sum of money to pay
Thomas J. Wilson, for legal services rendered
the State, at the instance and request of the
Comptroller, in the trial of the case of Schley
vs. the Comptroller of the Treasury, in the
Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county.

Sum appro-
priated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of one hundred
dollars is hereby appropriated to pay Thomas J.
Wilson, for legal services rendered the State, at
the instance and request of the Comptroller of
the Treasury, in the trial of the case of Schley
vs. the Comptroller of the Treasury, in the Cir-
cuit Court for Anne Arundel county.

Treasurer to
pay.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Comp-
troller issue his warrant, and the Treasurer there-
on pay to Thomas J. Wilson, for his services
aforementioned, the sum of one hundred dollars.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 304.

AN ACT to authorise James H. Thomas, of St.
Mary's county, a free negro, to dispose of his
real and personal estate, by last will and testa-
ment, or alienate the same by deed or other
conveyance.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, that James H. Thomas, a free negro of St.
Mary's county, has, by his industry, economy
and good conduct, acquired certain real and
personal estate in said county, which he is desi-
rous of transmitting by his last will and testa-
ment, or of disposing of the same by deed or
