not leas than five dollars, nor more than twenty
dollars, to he recovered before any magistrate in
the city of Baltimore, and such fines shall he ap-
propriated to the use of the State.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That the Comp-
troller, Librarian or other proper officer, shall
furnish each Tobacco Inspector with a bound copy
of this act, paid for out of the Tobacco fund.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That all laws, or
parts of laws, inconsistent with this act, be and
the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect on and after the first Monday in May,
eighteen hundred and fifty-eight.

AN ACT to amend an an act passed at Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and forty-nine,
chapter three hundred and fifty-eight, entitled
an act to incorporate the Union Plank Road
and Turnpike Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Union Plank Road
and Turnpike Company, be and they are hereby
authorised to make branches to said road not ex-
ceeding ten miles in length for each or any
branch, and that in regard to each and every
of said branch so provided to be made, the
said corporation shall have all the powers and be
subject to all rates, charges and regulations pre-
scribed for the said company in the aforesaid act
and its supplements.
