CHAPTER 297.

AN ACT to exempt certain property of the Pro-
testant Episcopal Church, situated in Saint
Michael's, Talbot county, from taxation.

10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be. it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the house and lot now be-
longing to the Protestant, Episcopal Church, be-
ing the Rectory of said Church, situated on Chest-
nut street, in the town of Saint Michael's, Talbot
county, recently purchased from Daniel Hope,
Junior, be and the same is hereby exempted from
taxation in all levies which shall hereafter be
made by the County Commissioners for Talbot
county, and also from State taxes.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 298.

In force.

AN ACT to confirm and make valid a deed from
Clement F. Jones and Josiah Massey, and
wife, to Thomas F. Copper.

9, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That a deed for twenty-four
acres, one rood and ten perches of land, more or
less, called "Greenfield," from Clement F.
Jones and Josiah Massey, and Mary Jane Mas-
sey, his wife, to Thomas F. Copper, of Kent
county, bearing date the sixth day of July,
eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, and recorded
among the land records of Kent county, be and
the same is hereby made as valid in law and
equity as if the same had been acknowledged by
the said Clement F. Jones, before a judge of a
court of record and of law, or a Notary Public,
in the State of South Carolina, and authenticated
according to the requirements of the laws of
