be and they are hereby authorised to sell at pub-
lic or private gale, as they may deem expedient, a
lot of ground situate in the town of Sharpsburg,
in Washington county, being the same lot upon
which the Church formerly stood; and upon the
payment of the purchase money, the said Trus-
tees are hereby authorised and empowered to con-
vey by good and sufficient deed, to the purchaser
or purchasers thereof, the aforesaid lot or parcel
of ground.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 294.

AN ACT authorising the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore, to issue the bonds or inscribed
Stock of said city, to complete a new Jail.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore, be and they are hereby empow-
ered to issue bonds or inscribed stock of the said
city, to an amount not exceeding two hundred
and fifty thousand dollars, for the purpose of pay-
ing the indebtedness and completing the new jail
for said city, said bonds or stock to bear interest
at the rate of six per centum per annum, payable
on the first day of January and July, and be re-
deemed in fifteen years from date of issue.

Sinking fund
to be establish-
ed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said
Mayor and City Council shall establish a sinking
fund for the redemption of said bonds or stock,
by levying an annual tax of two cents on every
hundred dollars of assessable property within the
limits of said city, until said bonds or stock here-
by authorised to be issued shall be redeemed.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect and be in full force from the date of
its passage.
