Vacancies —
how filled.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the present
board of trustees recently elected for the manage-
ment of said Maryland Agricultural College and
their successors, hereafter to be elected under the
provisions of the act to which this is a supple-
ment, be and they are hereby authorised and em-
powered to fill all vacancies occurring in their
board by resignation, death, removal or other-
wise, during the term for which they shall be
elected, from any county, city of Baltimore or

Proviso.
|
District of Columbia; Provided, that the persons
elected to fill such vacancies shall in all cases be
taken from the city or county from which his
immediate predecessor was appointed.
|
|
|
May select
honorary mem-
bers from other
states.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said board
of trustees shall have power and authority to
appoint and select honorary members of the
board of trustees in said institution from the other
States of this Union, with authority to attend
the meetings of said trustees, but without right of
voting on the management of the same; and that
hereafter the stockholders of said institution shall
have the name authority at their future general
election of trustees.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

AN ACT to extend the powers of the President
and Commissioners of the town of Elkton.
|
|
|
Empowered to
enforce collec-
tions.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the town bailiff and col-
lector or collectors appointed by the president
and commissioners of the town of Elkton, for the
collection of the taxes in said town, be and they
are hereby authorised and empowered to enforce
the payment and collection of the said taxes in
the same manner and with like effect as the col-
lectors of the State and county taxes are author-
ised to enforce the payment of State and county
