exist as to the power of said County Commis-
sioners and the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore to provide the ways and means to pay
for the said property in the event of either party
becoming the purchaser thereof; Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That it shall he lawful for the
County Commissioners of Baltimore county or the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, in the
event of either of said parties becoming the pur-
chaser of that portion of the almshouse property
agreed by them to be sold at public sale on the
twenty-third day of March, eighteen hundred and
fifty-eight, to issue in payment of said purchase
the corporate stock of said County Commissioners
or Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, as the
case may be, redeemable in the year eighteen
hundred and eighty-five, or at pleasure, bearing
six per cent, interest per annum, payable semi-
annually, which stock may be coupons, or in-
scribed, as the purchaser of said property may
elect, and it shall be obligatory upon the County
Commissioners of said county in the event of the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore becoming
the purchaser of said property, to take and receive
from the said Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more in payment for Baltimore county's distribu-
tive share of the proceeds of such sale the corpo-
rate stock of said Mayor and City Council herein
authorised to be issued, and it shall in like man-
ner be obligatory upon the said Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, in the event of the County
Commissioners of Baltimore county becoming the
purchasers of said property, to take and receive
in payment for said Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore's distributive share of the sale of the
same, the corporate stock of said County Commis-
sioners authorised to be issued by this act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore or the County Commis-
sioners of Baltimore county, whichever may be-
come the purchaser of the said almshouse pro-
perty, shall have power and they are hereby au-
thorised to levy upon the assessable property of
said city or county, as the case may be, such an
amount of money as may be necessary to pay the
