sistants.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said Coun-
ty Commissioners, if they shall ascertain that the
duties devolved upon them by this act shall he-
come onerous, and interfere with the general
jurisdiction of their office, may and they are here-
by authorised to employ such aids and assistants
as they may deem necessary, to provide for taking
ample bonds and security for the faithful per-
formance of the duties enjoined upon such aids
and assistants and for the payment of such com-
pensation to them, and for any just and proper
and necessary expenses as may be unavoidable as

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, by the act of 1853, chapter 253, enti-
tled, an act to provide for carrying into effect
in part the valuation and division of the joint
property of the city and county of Baltimore,
and for adjusting their mutual concerns, it is
provided in the seventh section of said act
that it shall be lawful for the County Commis-
sioners of Baltimore county and for the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore to purchase the
almshouse property, or any part or parts
thereof, at any sale thereof, to be made under
the provisions of said act; And whereas, it has
been agreed by the County Commissioners and
the said Mayor and City Council of Baltimore,
by authority of said act, to sell at public sale
on the twenty-third day of March, eighteen
hundred and fifty-eight, a portion of the said
almshouse property at public sale, and doubts
