AN ACT authorising the transcribing of certain
records of indexes, in the office of Register of
Wills of Frederick county.
|
|
|
Register of
Wills required
to transcribe.
|
SECTION 1. Be, it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Register of Wills for
Frederick county, be and he in hereby required to
transcribe as many of the indexes of records in
the Register's office of said county, into a new
hook or books, well bound for that purpose, as
may he now worn out or rendered inefficient from
continued use, and also to transcribe and remodel
the entire general index of administration and
guardians' accounts, and that he also be and he
is required to fill and supply the vacancy which
now exists in said general index, from December
the 20th, eighteen hundred and eighteen, to
June the 20th, eighteen hundred and twenty-
five, and that he procure a good and .substantial
book or books for that purpose.

phans' Court to
use their dis-
cretion.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That if the
Judges of the Orphans' Court for said county, in
their discretion, deem it necessary that an entire
new general index should be made for said office,
they shall pass an order requiring the Register to
make such general index, which order when pas-
sed shall be faithfully executed by the Register,
and said index shall be full, alphabetical and
complete, and made in a book or books, well
bound for that purpose.

County Com-
missioners to
pay.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the costs of said
books shall be paid by the County Commissioners
for said county, and that said Register shall be
paid for making said index or indexes out of the
surplus proceeds of his office, and if there be no
surplus, then the said County Commissioners shall
allow him such compensation as they shall think
fair and reasonable, to be levied and collected as

other county charges now are; Provided, that said
Register shall in no event receive more than the
sum now allowed him by the Constitution of this
State, and should the compensation allowed him
by the County Commissioners cause a surplus in
the fees of his said office, that then he shall pay over
said excess, or surplus, or surpluses to the said
