CHAPTER 27.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT entitled an act to provide for pro-
curing for the State Library, copies of sundry
papers relating to the history of the colony of
Maryland.
|

ary 29, 1858.
|
|
|
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General As-
sembly, That there are in the Colonial Office
in London, and in the library of Zion College,
and in the Archives of the Propaganda at Rome,
original papers and documents, important in
illustrating the provincial history of Maryland;
Therefore,
|
Preamble.
|
|
|
SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Governor is hereby
authorised and requested to designate some per-
son to procure copies of such papers and docu-
ments, as may be found of value for the use of
the Library of this State, and to issue to such
person a commission under the Great Seal of the
State, as an evidence of his authority.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of five
hundred dollars or HO much thereof as may be
necessary, be and the same is hereby appropria-
ted for the expense of having such copies made;
and that on the said copies being deposited in
the Library of the State, and the fact being cer-
tified by the Librarian, the Comptroller is au-
thorised to issue his warrant to the Treasurer to
pay the person commissioned by the Governor
under this act, such sum, not exceeding five hun-
dred dollars, as the Comptroller may be satisfied
has been expended in having such copies made.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
