CHAPTER 219.

AN ACT making appropriations for the support
of the Government for the year ending on the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and
fifty-nine.

10, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That for the expenditures in the
support of the Government for the present year,
ending on the first day of January, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-nine, the following sums of money,
or so much thereof as may he necessary, he and
the same arc hereby appropriated, that is to say :
tor the compensation granted by the Constitution
of this State, and the laws thereof, to the mem-
bers of the Senate and House of Delegates, their
officers and attendants, the salaries of the Secreta-
ry and chief clerk of the respective houses excepted,
and also for the contingent expenses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, including the cost of printing,
seventy thousand dollars; for the postage of the
members of the General Assembly, including the
Secretary and Chief Clerk, of the respective
Houses, and for the postage of the Executive and
Treasury Departments, four thousand dollars; for
the salaries of the following civil officers: that is
to say, for the salary of the Governor of this
State, three thousand six hundred dollars; for
the salary of the Secretary of State, one thou-
sand dollars; for the salary of the Comptroller
of the Treasury Department, two thousand five
hundred dollars; for the salary of the Treasurer
of this State, two thousand five hundred dollars ;
for the salary of the Commissioner of the Land
Office, two hundred dollars; for the salaries of
Judges of the Court of Appeals, ten thousand
dollars; for the salary of the Judge of the first
Judicial Circuit, two thousand dollars; for the
salary of the Judge of the second Judicial Cir-
cuit, two thousand dollars; for the salary of the
Judge of the third Judicial Circuit two thousand
dollars; for the salary of the Judge of the fourth
Judicial Circuit, two thousand dollars; for the
salary of Judge of the Superior Court for Balti-
more city, two thousand five hundred dollars ;
