Circuit Court for Montgomery county, paid into
the Treasury, in the years eighteen hundred
and fifty-two and eighteen hundred and fifty-
three, as tax on his office, as provided by the
act of eighteen hundred and forty-six, chapter
two hundred and fifty-three, the sum of two
hundred and seventy-eight dollars and eighty-
nine cents, and that in the same years, William
Thompson of R., late Register of Wills of the
same county, as tax on his office, paid into the
Treasury, the sum of one hundred dollars; and
it also appears to the General Assembly, that
by the fortieth section of the third article, and
the first section of the tenth article of the Con-
stitution, it was the intention of the framers of
that instrument, to provide a new mode, and
abolish the old method of raising a revenue
from said offices ;

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of two hundred
and seventy-eight dollars and eighty-nine cents,
be and the same is hereby appropriated, out of
any unappropriated funds in the Treasury, for the
use of James G. Henning, mentioned in the pre-
amble of this bill, and the Treasurer is hereby au-
thorised, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, to
pay James G. Henning, the sum of two hundred
and seventy-eight dollars and eighty-nine cents.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of one
hundred dollars, be and is hereby appropriated
for the use of the said William Thompson of R. ,
and the Treasurer upon the warrant of the Comp-
troller, is hereby authorised to pay the said sum
of one hundred dollars, to the said William
Thompson of R., or to his order.
